Preston North End sweat on injury concern ahead of Cardiff City clash

Preston North End will sweat on an injury concern ahead of their clash with Cardiff City this weekend. The Bluebirds picked up an important win against Watford away from home last time out, and they now turn attention to Saturday’s home clash with Preston, a team they beat in a dramatic comeback away from home earlier this season.

City should welcome Aaron Ramsey back this weekend after the Welshman remained on the bench for the Watford win, returning to the squad after a three-month layoff. The Bluebirds are now five points off the top six, while this weekend’s opponents Preston are two points better off, in 10th place.

Though, North End will arrive in South Wales with an injury concern, with Duane Holmes having picked up an injury in the lead up to their impressive win over promotion contenders Ipswich Town last time out.

The 29-year-old midfielder was withdrawn from Preston’s squad, with head coach Ryan Lowe explaining later: “He just tweaked his medial ligament, I think.

“He had a shot and came in just before the lads all started coming in. He just said his knee was a bit sore. Jacko just said to take him out and so we pulled him out. We will assess it tomorrow and see where he is at.”
