Sunderland facing lengthy injury list for Cardiff City visit

Cardiff City are now preparing for a clash with Sunderland this weekend as they look to bounce back from their derby defeat to Swansea City. The Bluebirds have been left to mull over that defeat due to the international break, but Good Friday brings an opportunity for a home win and to make it five wins from six games.

Sunderland are in town for the clash, and they are the team who are directly below the Bluebirds, albeit five points worse off, meaning City cannot drop any places this week regardless of what happens.

The Black Cats were once in playoff contention, but two managerial sackings have seen them drop off considerably. As the Wearside club prepare for their trip to South Wales, they have a number of injury concerns.

Patrick Roberts is a doubt and is unlikely to feature, while Jenson Seelt is out with a knee injury. Jack Clarke is also likely to miss out as he nears a return following a ligament issue, and Nazariy Rusyn is another doubt after missing out last time around, as is Aji Alese.

Elliot Embleton, Dennis Cirkin, Cirry Evans and Niall Huggins are all out.
